There are several holidays in January, including festive, regional, and national holidays. All banks, whether they are public or private will observe holidays on two Saturdays and four Sundays in the first month of the new year.
These holiday schedules of banks can vary according to state so it is best to check with local branches.
Are Banks Closed On January 1?
Most banks shall remain closed on January 1, 2025, across the country to mark the New Year. However, banks in remote areas regions like Mizoram and Sikkim will be closed on New Year's Eve, that is, December 31, 2024.
Online Banking
Despite the fact that their nearest branch might be closed during the new year, customers can rely on online and mobile banking services. ATMs will also be open for withdrawal of cash.
RBI Bank Holiday List
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is yet to announce an official calendar for January 2025, but banks are expected to have a minimum of 13 non-working days through the month including an off of two Saturdays and four Sundays.
