Akash Ambani, Director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), on Thursday, unveiled the plans to develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub at Jamnagar. Addressing employees and their families gathered to celebrate 25 years of Jamnagar Refinery, Ambani said that Jamnagar, 'a jewel of RIL family' will be made into an AI hub in a short span of 24 months. Speaking at the event, Ambani said that the planned AI infrastructure at Jamnagar will place the town among the top-ranked AI hubs in the world.
"We have already commenced building this in Jamnagar and we want to complete it in true Jamnagar style in record time, as we have always done in Jamnagar - in 24 months... This is our commitment to te entire Reliance Ambani and our parents," he said.
The Jamnagar crude oil refinery is the largest refinery of its kind in the world. Commissioned on July 14, 1999, the RIL refinery has an installed capacity of 6,68,000 barrels per day. RIL reorganised the Refinery & Petrochemicals business into Oil to Chemicals or O2C business in FY 2020-21, in line with its evolving strategy and management matrix.
The restructuring was aimed at facilitating faster decision-making while pursuing focused opportunities across the O2C value chain and to help attract dedicated pools of capital.
