The Reserve Bank of India( RBI ) is set to hold its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) for  the December. This year, the MPC has already convened in April, June, August, and October. The final meeting for FY25 is slated for February 2025.

RBI MPC Date and Time
The RBI’s six-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), led by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, is set to hold its fifth meeting for the financial year 2024-25 (FY25) from December 4 to December 6. The much-anticipated decision on the repo rate will be announced at 10 AM on Friday, December 6.

For those interested in the outcomes of the meeting, the RBI will live stream the announcement on its official YouTube channel and social media platforms, including Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).

The December MPC will meet from December 4–6, and Governor Shaktikanta Das will make the live announcement of the decisions at 10:00 AM on December 6.


Repo rate
The meeting comes against the backdrop of pressing economic challenges, including high inflation, lower-than-expected GDP growth, and declining production figures. While the RBI has held the repo rate at 6.5% since February 2023.

October MPC Highlights
In October, the MPC maintained the repo rate at 6.5%, with a majority vote of five out of six members. The standing deposit facility (SDF) rate was unchanged at 6.25%, while the marginal standing facility (MSF) and bank rate remained at 6.75%. Governor Das emphasized the committee’s neutral stance and its focus on aligning inflation with growth in a sustainable manner.
