Apple iOS 18.2 Update Released: Check New Features

Apple on Tuesday announced the release of the iOS 18.2 update, introducing new features adding to the Apple suite.

Key Features of iOS 18.2

At the very centre of the update is the Image Playground, which is a tool that allows users to generate unique images. Users can create customised visuals using animation and illustrations within messaging apps. The feature also allows users to personalise images as photos from the personal libraries of users are used.

Genmoji is another new feature where Apple Intelligence has taken emojis to the next level. Making conversation with friends and family has become more playful with this feature. Now users can get a Genmoji by simply typing a description into the keyboard, with multiple options to choose from. personalised Genmojis can be customised with accessories like hats, sunglasses, etc.

The new iOS update also seamlessly integrates with Siri and other writing tools and gives users instant access to AI capabilities.

Breakthrough For Privacy in AI

The new update is designed to protect users' privacy at every step as Apple Intelligence uses on-device processing, meaning that many of the models that power it run entirely on device. 

When using Private Cloud Compute, users’ data is never stored or shared with Apple; it is used only to fulfill their request.

Additionally, visual intelligence capabilities have been expanded especially for iPhone 16 users as they shall now be able to analyze surroundings, translate texts, and extract contact information using their cameras.

This update is compatible with iPhone XS and newer models but Apple Intelligence only works on iPhone 16 series and iPhone 15 Pro models.
