Tesla shares surge: Shares of Tesla , Donald Trump's media business and domestic-focused small-cap companies surged on Wednesday in anticipation of a win for former president even though some key states in US election are yet to post results.

" market believes a Trump presidency will unleash animal spirits and give a boost to growth in short-term through some relief on corporate taxes and deregulation," said Frédérique Carrier, he of investment strategy for RBC Wealth Manment in British Isles and Asia.

On downside, US renewable energy firms such as NextEra Energy NEE.N and First Solar FSLR.O plunged 7.5 per cent and 11 per cent, respectively as Trump has campaigned for rollback of climate regulations passed under President Joe Biden.
