The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its first list of 29 candidates on January 4, for the Delhi Assembly elections.
Among contesting parties are the Indian National Congress (INC), the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Some of BJP's prominent leaders are going to contest in important constituencies across the national capital and they will directly be pitted against top leaders of the rival party AAP.
High Profile Candidates Of BJP
Among BJP's high-profile candidates is Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, who is going to contest from the New Delhi constituency. He will be facing Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP convener and former Chief Minister of Delhi. From Congress, Sandeep Dixit will fight in the same constituency.
In the Kalkaji constituency, BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri is going to fight against AAP leader and current Chief Minister of Delhi Atishi as well as Congress leader Alka Lamba.
BJP leader Vijender Gupta will stand from Rohini, Ashish Sood from Janakpuri and Kailash Gahlot from Bijwasan. BJP is also fielding Anil Sharma from RK Puram, Satish Upadhyay from Malviya Nagar and Ravinder Singh Negi from Patparganj, who are going to play critical roles.
BJP Vs. AAP
BJP's first list has come in after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched an attack on AAP, calling it an "aapda" (disaster) that has gripped Delhi for the last 10 years. To this,, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal also responded saying that the BJP is facing the real "aapda" as the party does not have a CM face.
