The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will start passenger services on the Janakpuri West–Krishna Park Extension section of the Magenta Line on January 5, 2025, at 3 PM.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Sunday inaugurate the Janakpuri West-Krishna Park Extension stretch, the first section of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's Phase-IV network to open for the public,officials said”, the release said.
Passenger services will commence on the section on the Magenta Line from 3 pm Sunday, the DMRC's principle executive director Anuj Dayal said.
DMRC Phase IV: Key Highlights
The Krishna Park Extension Station increases the Delhi Metro network to 289 stations, covering a total distance of 394.448 kilometers.This addition enhances the Botanical Garden–Janakpuri West route, improving access for nearby residents.
Trains will initially operate every 16 minutes between Janakpuri West and Krishna Park Extension. The line now spans approximately 40 kilometers, with further extensions to RK Ashram Marg expected by 2026 which will increase Magenta line reach.
DMRC Phase IV: PM Modi To Inaugurate
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Janakpuri West–Krishna Park Extension section on Sunday. He will also lay the foundation stone for the Rithala–Narela–Kundli Metro corridor, a 26.5-kilometer project under Phase-IV.
The new corridor will enhance travel options for residents of outer Delhi and parts of Sonipat, Haryana, fostering regional growth and smoother commutes.
DMRC's Global Standing
The Delhi Metro was developed and is operated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), a joint venture of the Indian government and the city of Delhi. In 2011, the United Nations approved the DMRC as the first metro rail and rail-based system in the world to acquire carbon credits for decreasing greenhouse-gas emissions, lowering the city's yearly carbon emission levels by 630,000 tonnes.
As Phase-IV projects continue, DMRC is solidifying its reputation as one of the world’s largest metro networks, providing improved connectivity and convenience.
