Apple to discontinue iPhone 15 Pro, several other products next week

Apple's annual event in India is scheduled for September 9. Although Apple typically keeps its launch plans confidential, the unveiling of the latest iPhone, Watch, and other accessories is widely anticipated. This event also marks the quiet discontinuation of older products that have reached the end of their shelf life. Consequently, the upcoming iPhone event could result in the official end of availability for at least 9 products.

iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max

Despite being just a year old, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will no longer be sold after their successors are introduced. This aligns with Apple's annual strategy to encourage customers to purchase the latest models. Though the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max may not offer significant changes from previous models, Apple aims to drive sales toward the newest devices.

iPhone 14 Plus

The iPhone 14 Plus, which replaced the mini models as Apple's first Plus model, may also be discontinued following the release of the iPhone 16 Plus. With two years since its introduction, the company intends for customers to focus on newer models, including last year's iPhone 15 Plus.

iPhone 13

The iPhone 13, one of Apple's best-selling iPhone models, will also be discontinued after the launch event. It is the successor of the iPhone 12 as the company's basic model when it was introduced in 2021.

Apple Watch Series 9, Watch Ultra 2, and Watch SE 2

Alongside the iPhone 16, Apple is expected to unveil new Watch models. The Apple Watch Series 10, Watch Ultra 3, and Watch SE 3 are anticipated, which means last year's models will be removed from Apple's official marketplaces.

AirPods 2 and AirPods 3

Apple may also discontinue the AirPods 2 and AirPods 3 in anticipation of next week's potential launch of the AirPods 4. The AirPods 2 were released in 2019, while the subsequent AirPods 3 debuted in 2021.
