NSE Opens at 23,250.45, up by 0.32 per cent. BSE opened on a positive too at 76,900.14, up by 0.52 per cent.

Meta plans to dismiss approximately 3,600 employees identified as low performers and replace them with new hires, according to an internal memo reported by Bloomberg on Tuesday, Bloomberg reported.

GIFT Nifty on the NSE IX rose by 41 points, or 0.18%, to reach 23,306, suggesting that Dalal Street is likely to open on a positive note on Wednesday.

Asia-Pacific markets largely saw gains on Tuesday, following a mixed session on Wall Street. The Dow surged, while the Nasdaq saw a decline as investors shifted away from tech stocks.

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index experienced a notable rise, while mainland China’s CSI 300 posted its largest single-day gain in over a month. Japan’s stock markets were the exception, with the Nikkei 225 and the Topix both registering losses, continuing their losing streak. This decline was also accompanied by a rise in Japan’s government bond yields to their highest levels in nearly two decades.

South Korea’s markets showed modest gains, with both the Kospi and Kosdaq closing higher. Meanwhile, Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 index ended the day in the green, breaking a three-day losing streak.

In Tuesday’s trading session, the Dow gained ground, rising moderately, while the S&P 500 edged up slightly. On the flip side, a pullback in technology stocks caused the Nasdaq Composite to decline.

The market’s movements came after December’s wholesale inflation data showed a smaller-than-expected increase, with the producer price index rising less than forecasted.

With inflation data now in focus, investors are gearing up for the release of December’s consumer price index on Wednesday morning.

Additionally, the fourth-quarter earnings season kicks off this week, with major financial institutions like BlackRock, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs, and Citigroup set to report their results before the opening bell on Wednesday.

Both Indian indices closed on a positive note on Tuesday, with the Sensex gaining 169.62 points (+0.22%) to settle at 76,499.63 after opening at 76,335.75. Similarly, the Nifty edged up 121.65 points (+0.53%), closing at 23,207.60 against its opening at 23,165.90. Leading the gains on the Sensex were Adani Ports, NTPC, Tata Steel, Zomato, Bajaj Finserv, and SBI, while Reliance, Nestle India, HUL, HCL Tech, and Titan emerged as the top losers. On the Nifty, Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, Shriram Finance, NTPC, and Hindalco topped the charts, while HCL Tech, HUL, Apollo Hospitals, Titan, and IndusInd Bank lagged behind.
