X Block feature: X is making changes to the way the Block button works on its platform. Until now, blocking a user on X (formerly Twitter) not only prevented them from interacting but also from seeing the posts of the account that had blocked them. But that is changing with X's latest update. Now, users will still be able to see the posts from the account that they have been blocked from. The development was announced by Elon Musk, who in a post on X said that the block feature will prevent a user from engaging with the account that has blocked them.
"The block function will block that account from engaging with, but not block seeing, public post," Elon Musk wrote in a post on X.
What does the updated Block feature do?
Simply put, the updated Block feature will prevent the account that has been blocked from interacting with the account that has blocked them. This means that the holders of the blocked account will not be able to like or comment on the posts of account that has blocked them. However, they will still be able to see their posts on the platform.
Also, this version of the Block feature will not work across X. Instead, users will have to block an account separate in DMs in order to prevent them from messaging them. This feature was announced by X earlier this month.
"We're rolling out a new block option only for DMs. It prevents an account from sending you messages while enabling you to continue to interact with the account in other ways," the company had written in a post at the time.
