Swiggy Bolt launch: Swiggy has launched a new 10-minute food and beverage delivery service in India called Swiggy Bolt. This new service aims to deliver food to the users from the quick service restaurants (QSRs) located near their location.
This new service was announced by Swiggy 's CEO of Food Marketplace, Rohit Kapoor, via a post on LinkedIn. "Iconic food brands have been built on the axis of time, taste and convenience. And today a few cities will enjoy the first trial of a unique (and hopefully iconic) marketplace within Swiggy Food," Kapoor wrote in a post on LinkedIn.
"Bolt will deliver the food you, in just 10 minutes. Yes, 10," he added.
As far as the details are concerned, the Swiggy Marketplace CEO said that the food items that will be eligible for delivery under Bolt will largely be items 'with short prep time' and that they will be delivered from restaurants closer to the user's location. "Menu will have largely items with short prep time and covering high density locations with low last miles. It is same food but shorter distances," Kapoor added.
Furthermore, he said that delivery partners will not if the order is a Bolt order or not, which is why they will neither be incentivised nor penalised for the deliveries. Responding to a query on the delivery fee, Kapoor indicated that Swiggy will not charge a premium delivery fee for Bolt orders and that the delivery fee could be lower than regular orders owing to shorter distances.
As per reports, Swiggy will deliver food from restaurants that are located in a radius of around 2Km from the user. While Kapoor did not elaborate on the restaurants that will offer Bolt deliveries, his LinkedIn post indicates that the service will order food deliveries from popular chains such as Chai Point, Dunkin' Donuts, KFC, Starbucks, and KFC to name a few. Reports suggest that other restaurants that will provide food deliveries under Bolt could include McDonald's, Burger King, Baskin-Robbins, Chaayos and EatFit. Bolt could also offer food from restaurants native to a user's location.
Where will Swiggy Bolt be available?
As a pilot program, Swiggy 's newly launched 10-minute food-delivery service, Bolt, will be available in six Indian cities. The list includes Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi and Pune.
In his post, Kapoor also said that Swiggy will roll out Bolt in other cities across the country soon.
