Over 100 passengers who were slated to travel on Air India Phuket-New Delhi flight on November 16, have been stranded at Phuket International Airport in Thailand for more than 80 hours. Several passengers took to social media to express their outrage even as the airline claimed that the flight was cancelled due to technical snags.
The reported ordeal started at 5.50 pm on November 16, when the Phuket-New Delhi Air India flight was initially delayed.
According to passenger posts, after several hours of uncertainty and repeated attempts to resolve the issue, the flight was eventually cancelled altogether, leaving passengers stuck in Phuket without any clear communication and no proper facilities from the airline.
No Further Information
First-hand reports claimed that a replacement aircraft was arranged, and passengers were informed that the technical issue had been resolved, assuring them that it would be the same flight. However, after approximately two-and-a-half hours of flight, the plane had to return to Phuket due to another technical malfunction. 80 hours later, passengers remained stranded in Phuket, facing ongoing delays and frustration.
Social media outrage
Passengers took to social media to express their frustration, sharing updates about the lack of assistance, further delays, and the ongoing uncertainty of when they would be able to return home. People consistently wrote on Twitter, tagging Air India. A response from the airline is awaited.
In the recent past, Air India has cancelled about 60 flights on high-demand India-US routes during the busy winter season. The cancellations are due to a shortage of aircraft, as many of its widebody planes are reportedly grounded for maintenance issues.
