Maruti Suzuki reports 4% dip to 181,782 units in August
Sales of the mini-segment cars, comprising Alto and S-Presso models among others, also declined to 10,648 units from 12,209 units a year ago.

Maruti Suzuki sales: Maruti Suzuki India ( MSI) on Sunday reported a 4 per cent year-on-year decline in total sales for August 2024 to 181,782 units against 189,082 units in the corresponding month a year ago.
The dip was largely contributed by a fall in domestic passenger vehicles wholesalers, which were down 8 per cent to 143,075 units from 156,114 units in August 2023. Sales of the mini-segment cars, comprising Alto and S-Presso models among others, also declined to 10,648 units from 12,209 units a year ago.
Compact cars, whose variants include the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, and Swift, registered their highest decline of 20 per cent with sales of 58,051 units last month from 72,451 units in August 2023.
On the other hand, utility vehicles - comprising models such as the Grand Vitara, Brezza, Ertiga, Invicto, Fronx, and XL6-continues its fight with sales reaching 62,684 units from 58,746 units in the corresponding period a year ago.
The Eeco model, on the other hand, sold 10,985 units against 11,859 units a year ago, while the light commercial vehicle Super Carry recorded sales of 2,495 units last month, down from 2,564 units in August 2023.
MSI's exports, however, went up by 6 per cent last month at 26,003 units as against 24,614 units in August 2023.
