Senior Journalist, Writer and Filmmaker Pritish Nandy Dies At 73; Actor Anupam Kher Confirms

Pritish Nandy, renowned poet, painter, journalist, and former parliamentarian, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 73. He suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence in South Mumbai. Reportedly, his funeral was held later in the evening.

Actor and politician Anupam Kher confirmed the news on social media. "Deeply saddened and shocked to know about the demise of my dear friend Pritish Nandy. An amazing poet, writer, filmmaker, and fearless journalist, he was my support system during my early days in Mumbai. I will miss him deeply," Kher tweeted.

Nandy, who served as a Rajya Sabha MP representing Maharashtra under the Shiv Sena, was a multifaceted personality. He gained recognition as a media personality, animal rights activist, filmmaker, and creator of television and streaming content.

Kher also recalled their shared memories, highlighting Nandy's larger-than-life persona and fearless nature. "He was one of the most fearless people I knew, always larger than life. He surprised me by putting me on the covers of Filmfare and The Illustrated Weekly. He truly defined 'यारों का यार.' I will miss you, my friend. Rest well," he added.
