Bharti Airtel tied up with Ericsson for a multi-billion Dollar , multi-year deal. Ericsson will run Airtel's 4G and 5G operations in India across multiple-years.
Airtel-Ericsson Deal: What Are The Particulars?
As per the new contract, Ericsson will deploy centralized RAN and Open RAN-ready solutions for network transformation which will help customers with wider coverage and enhanced capacity on the network. Ericsson will also undertake the software upgradation of its current deployed 4G radios.
Airtel-Ericsson Deal: What Does Top Leadership Say?
Randeep Sekhon, CTO, Bharti Airtel, said, "This deployment will enable us to further improve the speed, reliability, and coverage of our network, ensuring an exceptional experience for our customers.”
Andres Vicente, Head of Ericsson Southeast Asia, Oceania, and India said, “This partnership extension reflects our shared vision to build a robust 4G and 5G infrastructure....We will work closely with Bharti Airtel to deliver great user experiences for their customers.”
The two parties seem to be excited about the deal and expanding their collaboration.
Ericsson currently powers 170 live 5G networks in more than 70 countries, and has been collaborating with Airtel for over 25 years.
The deal comes soon after Ericsson won part of a $3.6 billion deal to sell 5G equipment to Vodafone Idea earlier in 2024. Ericsson will share the contract with Nokia and Samsung.
