Apple likely to launch iPhone SE 4 alongside iPhone 16 series: What we know so far

iPhone SE 4 launch: Apple will be hosting its annual fall event on September 9. At the event, the company will launch its much-anticipated iPhone 16 series smartphone. In addition to that, the company is also expected to launch the Apple Watch Series 10, Apple Watch Ultra 3 and the fourth generation AirPods. Now, a new report hints towards the possibility of Apple launching the iPhone SE 4 alongside the iPhone 16 series.

A Bloomberg report recently pointed out that inventory at Apple's retail stores ahead of an Apple event typically helps in understanding what products the company is planning to launch. The report says that the stocks of iPhone cases and Apple's Fine Woven faux leather bands are at an all-time low at Apple stores. This means that either the company is planning to kill the product or it is trying to update the product ahead of the launch. Interestingly, another product that remains in low stocks is the iPhone, including the third generation iPhone SE or the iPhone SE 3. This could indicate that the company is planning to update its budget iPhone by launching the iPhone SE 4.

While the report says that iPhone SE 4 is likely to arrive sometime in 2025, a separate report by Android Authority points out that Apple could launch the iPhone SE 4 at its upcoming September 9 event in order to push for Apple Intelligence. Launching iPhone SE 4 alongside the iPhone 16 could also give buyers a more pocket friendly way of experiencing Apple Intelligence.

What do we know about iPhone SE 4 so far?

Apple is expected to make major changes to its iPhone SE lineup with the launch of the iPhone SE. The phone is expected to look like iPhone 14, marking a huge departure from the iPhone SE 3, which looks like the iPhone 8. Apple is also likely to ditch Touch ID and replace it with Face ID in its upcoming iPhone SE 4. Additionally, the iPhone SE 3 successor is expected to come with a 6.06-inch display. Apple is likely to ditch LCD display in favour of an OLED display.

Coming to the core, the iPhone SE 3 was powered by the A15 Bionic chip. Apple is likely to give iPhone SE 4 an upgrade by powering it with its upcoming A18 chipset. This will also bring Apple Intelligence to the device. In terms of the camera, the iPhone SE 4 is likely to retain a single camera setup at the back. However, Apple could upgrade it to a 48MP lens. The iPhone SE 3 has a 12MP camera at the back.
