Google has fixed the issue that caused the Google app on Android devices to crash repeatedly. The company, via an update on its Google Search Status Dashboard, said that it had fixed the issue and rolled it out to all Android users across the globe.
Google App outage: What exactly happened?
Google app faced issues on Saturday night and Sunday morning after users across the globe reported the app to crash when they attempted to use it. According to a report by 9To5 Google , Android users reported the Google app to crash when they attempted to open it via the home screen icon.
Android users also reported the Google Search bar widget to crash moments after showing the past queries. Additionally, issues in Android's system led to Google Discover failing to launch and the Pixel Launcher search bar.
The issue began at around 23:07 PDT. At the time, the company said that there was an "ongoing issue with serving in Google Search that was affecting a large number of users searching on the Google app on Android."
"The issue with serving has been mitigated and our systems are becoming stable, but we're still working on a fix. Affected users still experiencing issues on the Google App on Android may try to clear the app cache and the app data through the Settings app. Next update will be within 12 hours," the company wrote on its Google Search Status Dashboard before confirming that the issue had been mitigated.
Google App outage: What can Android users do now?
Google says that it has rolled out the update to all Android users. This means that all Android users should be able to use the Google app without any issues now.
Android users, who are still facing the issue, can try clearing the app cache and the app data through the Settings app before using the Google app on their Android smartphones.
