Apple Watch Series 10: Again setting the pace, Apple has just pushed wearable technology to its limits by launching the most awaited Apple Watch Series 10 at an event organised at The Observatory, a new showcase facility at Apple Park. The event launched what is considered perhaps a revolutionary smartwatch boasting the largest display in the series, a thin profile mixed with top-tier design and enhanced functionality.
Milestone in Innovation for Apple Watch
While addressing the presentation, Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook focused on the company's vision of the future. That future is one of advanced iPhones, Apple Watches, and a slate of new services and products. Cook called the Apple Watch Series 10 “a beautiful new design”.
"We've developed the largest and most advanced display ever for an Apple Watch," he said; it outclasses even the Apple Watch Ultra. Offering as much as 30 per cent more screen area than earlier models, this display will grant users larger fonts with more visible text and without a compromise on readability.
Refined Design and Sustainability
That makes the Apple Watch Series 10 much more than just about a bigger screen; it brings the world's first wide-angle OLED display from Apple. Engineered to deliver up to 40 per cent brighter visuals when viewed from an angle, this provides for the best in-class readability in case users are on the go or multitasking.
Apple also introduced new colors for the Series 10: Jet Black and Rose Gold added to the usual Silver Aluminum finish. The design is taken one notch higher on the interface with a ticking second hand for real-time dynamism.
The Series 10 is almost 10 per cent thinner at only 9.7mm and lighter due to the case being made of aluminum-10 per cent lighter itself. There's a premium version in Grade 5 titanium as well, which is 20 per cent lighter than the previous stainless steel variant. Apple has focused on sustainability for this, making the Series 10 carbon neutral, manufacturing it from 95 per cent recycled titanium, and powering it completely with renewable electricity.
Advanced Technology and Health Features
For the first time, users can stream music and podcasts directly from the watch itself through its speaker. Secondly, it houses the fastest charging speed in the series by taking just 30 minutes to reach 80 per cent of the battery.
Powered by the new S10 SiP chip, Series 10 boosts performance, power efficiency, and machine-learning capabilities. One of the most exciting features is the detection of sleep apnea, which Apple projects as a game-changing feature for sleep health monitoring. By using advanced machine learning combined with clinical data, this feature will alert users to possible conditions of sleep apnea; the company expects FDA clearance soon for the feature. The capability will also be available with Series 9 and Ultra 2.
Smarter Fitness and Adventure Tracking
With the Series 10, swimmers get additional features such as a depth gauge that can reach a capacity of 20 feet and water temperature readings for both pool and open-water swims. The new Tides app in watchOS 11 also gives users detailed coastal data, perfect for surfers, fishermen, or really just anyone looking to have fun out on the water. Similarly, the latest workout app now tracks distance, speed, and route mapping for kayaking, further extending its functionality for the adventure-seeker.
Apple Watch Ultra 2: A New Finish for Extreme Performance
In tandem, there was also an announcement made for the Apple Watch Ultra 2, which now boasts a Satin Black finish. Common for an Ultra product, the watch comes with the most precise GPS on the market, along with a plethora of features aimed at professional athletes and any kind of outdoor enthusiast. The Ultra 2 is made from 95 percent recycled titanium, complete with a titanium Milanese loop and Hermes titanium buckle.
The price was $799 for the Apple Watch Ultra 2, available for preorder starting today, September 9.
