Apple has announced the iPhone 16, its latest standard iPhone that brings the latest chipset, support for the company's AI capabilities called Apple Intelligence, and a new physical camera button. Apple says that AirPods Pro 2, its latest wireless earbuds, can be used as clinical-grade hearing aids. However, this feature is still awaiting been FDA-clearance. Company says that it expects approval “soon.” The feature, when enabled, boosts specific sounds in real-time, like parts of speech or elements of an environment. The hearing aid feature for AirPods Pro 2 will launch this fall via a software update in over 100 countries and regions.

Inside the iPhone 16, Apple has upgraded the chip to the 3nm A18 – a major leap in recent years during which Apple equipped the latest Pro models with the latest chips while recycling the chip from last year’s Pro models on the current non-Pro models. This time, it is the same chip as the Pro models – all in favour of the Apple Intelligence features that require more power and resources to work properly. The company claims the new chip is 30 per cent faster than iPhone 15's CPU. While Apple does not reveal the iPhone’s RAM capacity, it is likely 8GB on the iPhone 16 duo – a jump from 6GB on the iPhone 15.

It can be accessed using the new Camera button. Users can click images and capture video using the same Camera button. This button also recognise touch-based gestures. A light press on the Camera button gives users access to a host of features and details.

 Apple says that iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will get Apple Intelligence support owing to the A18 chipset. Apple Intelligence will let users create new emojis and create images from scratch using Playground.

The new iPhone 16 starts at $799 for the 128GB model, while the iPhone 16 Plus price starts at $899 for a 128GB version. Apple will begin to sell both iPhone models starting September 20, while pre-orders start September 13. It comes in Pink, Ultramarine, White, Black, and Teal colours.

Apple has announced the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus as its new marquee smartphones. While the duo retains several features from last year’s iPhone 15 series, their cameras look different. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus also have two cameras, but now in a vertical alignment to set them apart from their predecessors. Both iPhone models retain the Dynamic Island and USB-C port while replacing the Alert Slider with an Action Button, introduced on the Pro models last year. The iPhone 16 duo also has a touch-sensitive camera button on the side that helps Apple pitch the new models as photography-friendly.

The new AirPods 4 cost $129 for the regular and $179 for the ANC model. The sale begins September 20 from Apple Store and Apple Store Online, while the pre-orders are open.

During the event, Apple said the AirPods 4 are built on technologies the previous versions have offered to offer users the best sound quality. That means the AirPods 4 supports Dolby Atmos, among other technologies such as USB-C and wireless charging. The earbuds come with louder case speakers, which make a sound when you locate the case using the Find My network. The AirPods 4 offer up to 30 hours of battery life with the charging case. It has Adaptive Audio, which customises the sound signature according to the ear of the wearer.

The Apple Watch Ultra gets a new Satin Black colour variant and it made of recycled titanium. It comes with a corrosion-resistant titanium band. It comes with all the features of the Apple Watch Series 10.

Apple Watch Ultra 2 starts at $799 and it will go on pre-orders today. It will go on sale on September 20.

Apple Watch Series 10 introduces a new sleep apnea detection feature. The feature will also be available on Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 models.

Apple Watch Series 10 will feature Apple's first Apple Watch Series also includes a metal back and it has bigger speakers. Apple is also bringing fast charging support to Apple Watch Series 10. Apple says that 30 minutes of charge can provide 80 percent of battery life. It is powered by the new S10 chipset.

Apple shares: Apple shares have dropped 7.4 per cent, slipping from a record high of $237.23 to $220.82, ahead of the much-anticipated launch of the iPhone 16. The decline comes as the tech giant prepares to unveil its latest iPhone lineup at its fall event on September 9 at its Cupertino headquarters. Investors appear cautious ahead of the product launch, contributing to the stock’s recent slide, which is seen as part of the broader market trend influenced by high competition in the global smartphone sector.

Apple is set to unveil its iPhone 16 lineup on Monday, placing a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence features rather than traditional hardware upgrades. The announcement will take place at the company's Apple Park headquarters at 10 am PDT (1700 GMT). 

This launch follows Apple's developer conference in June, where the company introduced Apple Intelligence, a generative AI capable of creating text, images, and other content on demand. Additionally, Apple showcased an upgraded Siri, now integrated with ChatGPT, the AI chatbot developed by Microsoft-backed OpenAI.
