Josh Gardner, a Chinese industrialist & CEO of Kung Fu Data asked an important question on tax payment. “ How much are YOU paying in taxes?”
He talked about Countries such as India and Indonesia having lower tax-to- GDP ratios. While this means a lighter tax burden for businesses, it often comes with less developed public services and infrastructure, presenting unique challenges for entrepreneurs.
“The challenge is finding that sweet spot where taxes support a healthy economy without stifling entrepreneurial spirit.”
He represented the tax to GDP of countries that majorly affect business decisions.
He stated that as entrepreneurs, taxes can feel like a burden, eating into hard-earned profits. But understanding the global tax-to-GDP ratio offers insights into a country’s economic health and business environment.
“ As an entrepreneur, I get it—taxes can be a real pain. They chip away at hard-earned profits and can sometimes feel like an unnecessary burden.
But when you look at the global picture, the tax-to-GDP ratio reveals a lot about a country’s economic health and the environment we’re operating in.”
High Tax Countries: Europe’s Example
Countries like France, Italy, and Germany have tax-to-GDP ratios exceeding 39 per cent, among the highest in the G20. While businesses hand over a significant share of earnings, these taxes often fund public services and infrastructure that indirectly fuel growth opportunities.
Striking the Balance
He also advocated to find the right balance—where taxes contribute to a thriving economy without stifling business innovation and growth.
“ While taxes are a necessary part of doing business, understanding where your country stands in the global landscape can help you strategize better for growth.”
