US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Susie Wiles as White House chief of staff. She was his campaign manager during the 2024 presidential election. She will be the first woman in US history to hold the role of White House chief of staff. Who is Susie Wiles?
Wiles is a 67 year old University of Maryland graduate and a veteran in Florida politics. Wiles was seminal in Trump’s transition from business to politics, especially in his 2016 Florida campaign. She rose from the ranks to director and then senior adviser in his 2024 campaign. She is admired and respected not just in Florida but also in D.C., and is credited with running a disciplined and professional campaign, which helped Trump sweep the electoral college. She has previously worked in the office of the Mayor - City of Jacksonville from 1995 to 1999. She has also managed Rick Scott’s 2010 gubernatorial campaign in 2010, as well as former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman’s 2012 presidential bid. She was also a part of Florida governor Ron DeSantis’ winning 2018 campaign. She has been praised by Trump several times publicly, who acknowledged her role in his victory.
