Jethmalani on Allegations Against Adani: Senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Mahesh Jethmalani has dismissed allegations against the Adani Group stemming from a recent US Department of Justice indictment, asserting that there is no basis for investigation in India.
Jethmalani claimed that the allegations being amplified by the Congress Party lack substance and are politically motivated. "There is no evidence to support the charges, and all this noise being made by the Congress holds no grounds," he stated.
Congress Is Doing It For Political Purpose: Jethmalani
He further accused the Congress of relying blindly on the findings of the US court, alleging ulterior motives behind the indictment. "Congress is relying on the US court indictment which has an interest in halting India’s economic growth," Jethmalani remarked.
According to him, the Congress Party’s focus on the issue is driven by political interests rather than genuine concerns. "They are doing this for political purposes," he added.
The remarks came right after the former Attorney General of India Mukul Rohtagi addressed the media and said that none of the Adanis are mentioned in the most crucial charges in the 54-page indictment report.
“I do not find a single name or a single detail in the chargesheet as to who has been bribed in what manner he has been bribed and the official belongs to such and such department. On that the charge sheet is completely silent,” the Ex-AG said.
