A post claiming that Union Cabinet has approved increasing retirement age of central government employees to 62 is going viral on social media. However, this claim is FALSE.  

Government Verified via PIB:

Government of India has clarified through Press Information Bureau that no such decision has been me to raise retirement age to 62. In August 2023, government also confirmed in Lok Sabha that re is no proposal under consideration to change retirement age of central government employees.

7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) did not recommend increasing retirement age to 62. Inste, 5th CPC h earlier recommended raising retirement age from 58 to 60 and stated that it should not exceed 60, except in special cases like medical and scientific specialists, who may receive an extension up to 62 on a case-by-case basis.  

In September 2017, Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi , approved increasing retirement age for doctors (excluding Central Health Services doctors) under various ministries, departments, and autonomous organisations to 65 years. This, however, does not apply to or central government employees.

Thus, viral claim is inaccurate and misleing as re is no truth in statement.
