Rohan Mirchandani, co-founder of the renowned Greek yogurt brand Epigamia, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 42 due to a cardiac arrest on December 21. The tragic news was confirmed by Drums Food International, Epigamia’s parent company, which requested privacy for his grieving family.
Mirchandani’s passing highlights a troubling pattern of stress-related illnesses and heart issues among young professionals in India. Earlier this year, Ambareesh Murty, co-founder of Pepperfry, died of a cardiac arrest at 51, while Rohan Malhotra, co-founder of Good Capital, also passed away unexpectedly.

Reacting to this alarming trend, Radhika Gupta, CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund, voiced her concerns in a heartfelt tweet.. "It is heartbreaking to see stories of so many folks I know losing their lives in their 40s and 50s to heart attacks and stress-related ailments," she wrote. "It makes you question a lot of things."
Gupta shared her philosophy on managing stress, urging professionals to shift their focus. "Rich lists and power lists will make you believe life is a race, but there is always someone who has more... and many who have less. Count the blessings and live the moments,” she advised.

"It is with deep sorrow that Drums Food International confirms the untimely passing of its beloved founder, Rohan Mirchandani," read the statement. The company assured that its operations would continue under the guidance of senior leadership, including COO Ankur Goel and Co-founder Uday Thakker, with full support from the Board of Directors and Mirchandani’s family.
Mirchandani, an alumnus of NYU Stern and The Wharton School, founded Drums Food International in 2013. Under his leadership, Epigamia transitioned from a modest venture into a household name in urban India, offering a diverse range of health-focused products. The brand’s reach extended to over 20,000 retail points across 30 cities, with plans for expansion into the Middle East by 2025-26.
