Bangalore’s Pink Metro: Launch Dates for Pink and Blue Lines

Bengaluru’s much-awaited Namma Metro expansion is set to open the elevated section of the 21.26 km Pink Line by December 2025.
“The first phase of this expansion features a 7.5 km elevated stretch from Kalena Agrahara (Gottigere) to Tavarekere (Swagath Cross), which is expected to be operational by September 2025. The second phase will introduce a 13.8 km underground line linking Dairy Circle to Nagawara, with completion anticipated in June 2026,” a senior BMRCL official said.
Meanwhile, the Blue Line to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) is expected to open in two phases by 2026. BEML has secured a ₹3,177 crore contract to supply 318 coaches for Bengaluru Metro’s Phase 2, including 96 coaches for the Pink Line. Deliveries are expected between June 2025 and December 2026.
Bangalore’s Metro: Blue Line Timeline and Phases
The Blue Line will be completed in phases. The first section, connecting KIA to Hebbal, is expected to open between June and September 2026. The second phase, from Hebbal to K.R. Pura will follow later, around December 2026. Due to faster construction of the KIA-Hebbal stretch, BMRCL has decided to prioritize its opening.
Bangalore’s Metro: Train Set Deliveries for the Blue Line
Bharat Earth Movers Ltd. (BEML) will begin delivering train sets for the Blue Line in December 2025. Each train will consist of six coaches, with four designed to accommodate airport passengers with luggage racks.

Bangalore’s Metro: Challenges
The Pink Line has faced several delays due to issues such as tender cancellations, alignment changes, land acquisition problems, and technical complications with underground tunneling.
