LIC deposits awaiting: Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has reported Rs 880.93 crore in unclaimed maturity amounts for the financial year 2023-24. This includes 3,72,282 policyholders who did not claim their maturity benefits. The previous year saw Rs 815.04 crore unclaimed, with 3,73,329 policyholders left without their due amounts.
Additionally, the year also saw 10 death claims worth Rs 14 lakh remaining unclaimed.
LIC is actively working to reduce unclaimed amounts and outstanding claims by running print and digital media campaigns, along with radio jingles to remind policyholders. In case you have an unclaimed amount, follow these steps to check and claim it:
How to check unclaimed LIC deposits?
If you're a policyholder and want to find out if you have any unclaimed LIC deposits or outstanding dues, follow these steps:
- Visit LIC's Official Website- Head to the Life Insurance Corporation of India’s official website.
- Go to 'Customer Services'- Find and on the 'Unclaimed Amounts of Policyholders' section under this tab.
- Enter Your Details- You’ll need to input your policy number, name, date of birth, and PAN card information to check for any unclaimed deposits.
If you face any issues during this process, you can either visit a nearby LIC branch or contact LIC customer care for assistance.
How to claim LIC unclaimed deposits?
Steps to claim your unclaimed amount:
- Obtain the claim form- You can either get the claim form from any LIC office or download it directly from their official website.
- Prepare the required documents- Make sure you have the policy document, premium receipts, and a death certificate (if applicable) ready.
- Submit the form and documents- Once completed, submit the form along with the necessary documents at your nearest LIC office.
After submission, the LIC team will process your claim. Upon successful verification, the unclaimed amount will be released to you.

To complete the claim process, policyholders are required to submit the following documents:
- Self-attested copy of the PAN card
- Updated Client Master List (CML) Report from your depository participant
- A scanned copy of a cancelled cheque
Additionally, the payment for unclaimed amounts will be transferred directly to the policyholder’s bank account via electronic mode, as per RBI guidelines.
LIC advises all policyholders to check their policies regularly and ensure they have updated contact details with LIC to receive important notifications and claim reminders.
