Rupee rises 5 paise to 84.26 against US dollar

The rupee recovered from its all-time low level and witnessed a range-bound trade against the US dollar in early hours on Thursday, as investors remained cautious ahead of the US Fed meeting outcome later this week.

Forex traders said RBI interventions will keep the USD/INR pair between 83.80 and 84.35. Moreover, the US Federal Reserve monetary policy and officials' comments will be in focus to derive further momentum.

Tata Steel shares climb over 2% after earnings announcement

Shares of Tata Steel climbed more than 2 per cent on Thursday after the firm reported a net profit of Rs 758.84 crore for the September 2024 quarter.

Automakers brace for new tariffs, EV changes under Trump

Automakers are bracing for President-elect Donald Trump to impose new tariffs on vehicles from Mexico and potentially from other countries and to reverse many existing pro-electric vehicle policies, industry associations and executives said.

Trump has said he plans to begin rescinding Environmental Protection Agency and Transportation Department vehicle rules on his first day in office and is considering paring back or eliminating EV tax breaks and other incentives.

US stocks rallied sharply to close at record highs on Wednesday after Republican Donald Trump won the 2024 US presidential election in a stunning comeback four years after being voted out of the White House.
