Markets regulator said on Wednesday that claims of unprofessional work culture at its offices were "misplaced".
Some "outside elements" instigated its employees to believe that they should not be required to have high standards of performance and accountability, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) said in a press statement, without specifying details.
Last month, some SEBI employees wrote a letter to the Finance Ministry, expressing concerns about "immense pressure" that resulted in a "stressful and toxic work environment".
Local newspaper Economic Times reported the letter on Wednesday. Reuters has reviewed a copy of the letter.
