Nifty gains for 13th session in a row, clocks longest winning streak since inception
Six of 13 sector gauges compiled by the National Stock Exchange ended higher led by the Nifty FMCG index's 0.88 per cent gain.

The record-breaking run for Indian stock markets continued for yet another session with the Nifty 50 index logging in thirteenth straight session of gains thereby clocking longest winning run since inception, data from the National Stock Exchange showed. The National Stock Exchange benchmark Nifty 50 index rose as much as 98 points to hit record high of 25,333.65 and 30-share Sensex climbed 359 points to hit an all-time high of 82,725.28. The markets have been on an upward spiral on the back of continuous buying by foreign institutional investors, analysts said.
The Sensex ended 194 points or 0.24 per cent higher at 82,559.84 and Nifty 50 index climbed 43 points to settle at 25,278.70.
Six of 13 sector gauges compiled by the National Stock Exchange ended higher led by the Nifty FMCG index's 0.88 per cent gain. Bank, financial services, IT, PSU bank and oil & gas shares also witnessed buying interest.
On the other hand, Realty, healthcare, metal, pharma and media shares saw selling pressure.
Mid- and small-cap also faced selling pressure as Nifty Midcap 100 index fell 0.22 per cent and Nifty Smallcap 100 index declined 0.32 per cent.
Bajaj Finserv was top Nifty gainer, the stock rose 3.31 per cent to close at Rs 1,842. Bajaj Finance, HCL Technologies, Hero MotoCorp, SBI Life, Bajaj Auto, IndusInd Bank and ITC also rose between 1.6-3.05 per cent.
On the flipside, Hindalco, Dr Reddy's Labs, Tata Motors, NTPC, ONGC, Wipro, Mahindra & Mahindra and Divi's Labs were among the losers.
The overall market breadth was negative as 2,255 shares ended lower while 1,782 closed higher on the BSE.
