Cabinet approves Rs 14,000 cr boost for agriculture sector, unveils 7 key schemes

Agri schemes: The Union Cabinet has approved an outlay of nearly Rs 14,000 crore for seven major initiatives aimed at strengthening India's agricultural sector. The decisions were announced by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw following a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Among the approved schemes, the government has allocated Rs 2,817 crore for a Digital Agriculture Mission, which aims to enhance technology adoption in farming practices. Another Rs 3,979 crore has been earmarked for advancements in crop science to improve agricultural productivity.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved a Rs 2,291 crore program to strengthen agricultural education and management, and Rs 1,702 crore for sustainable livestock health and production.
The Cabinet also cleared ₹860 crore for the sustainable development of horticulture, Rs 1,202 crore to enhance the Krishi Vigyan Kendra network, and Rs 1,115 crore for natural resource management.
These seven schemes together account for a total investment of Rs 13,960 crore, reflecting the government’s commitment to advancing the agricultural sector and ensuring sustainable growth.
