Over 155,000 candidates register on PM Internship Portal
According to sources from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), the registration numbers are expected to grow.

The PM Internship Portal has recorded a significant milestone, with a total of 155,109 candidates registering as of today, the sources from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs told Republic Business. This initiative, aimed at providing students and young professionals with valuable internship opportunities within various government departments, has garnered widespread interest and participation.
The portal allows registered candidates to apply for internships, enhancing their skills and offering practical exposure to public service and governance. The initiative reflects the government's commitment to fostering a skilled workforce and encouraging youth engagement in public policy and administration.
According to sources from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), the registration numbers are expected to grow as more candidates become aware of the opportunities available through the portal.
The registration portal for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme was open on Saturday. The age eligibility for the beneficiaries of the scheme will be 21 to 24 years. The estimated cost of the pilot project of the scheme is estimated to be around Rs 800 crore. The internship will be starting on December 2.
This, the corporate affairs ministry said in a statement on X, would bring upliftment of employability for youths through skill development. Under this scheme, it has proposed internships for up to 12 months at 500 of India's finest companies.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the scheme for the Union Budget 2024 to be implemented through an online portal entitled www.pminternship.mca.gov.in. The portal, developed by the ministry itself, allows Aadhaar-based registration and tools for the generation of bio-data to ensure efficient access to internship opportunities in all industries.
A government official has confirmed that the portal is now open for candidate registration. The portal has added over 80,000 internship opportunities in merely a week across 24 sectors such as oil, gas and energy, travel and hospitality, and automotive.
