GDP data release time: The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) announced on Friday that it will advance the release time of Gross Domestic Product ( GDP ) data by 90 minutes, moving it from 5:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
Previously scheduled for release at 5:30 pm on specified dates, the GDP data will now be available earlier to give users, media, and the public more time to review the information, according to a MoSPI statement.
No disruption amid active trading
The ministry highlighted that this adjustment aligns with the closing time of India’s major financial markets, ensuring the data release does not disrupt active trading sessions.
This change reflects MoSPI's commitment to greater transparency and accessibility in data dissemination. The revised timing will come into effect with the next GDP release for the second quarter of the 2024-25 financial year, scheduled for 4:00 pm on 29 November 2024, available on the Press Information Bureau and MoSPI’s official website.
In line with this update, MoSPI has also recently moved the release time for the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) and Consumer Price Index (CPI) data to 4:00 pm, underscoring a broader shift towards enhanced data accessibility across key economic indicators.
