Welspun Enterprises secures Rs 1,989 cr tunnel construction contract in Mumbai

Welspun construction: Welspun Enterprises has announced that it has been awarded a significant design and build contract worth Rs 1,989 crore by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the construction of a water conveyance tunnel in Mumbai.
The project involves designing and constructing a tertiary treated water conveyance tunnel that will connect the Dharavi Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) to the Ghatkopar WWTF. The tunnel will be built using tunnel boring machine (TBM) technology and is expected to be completed within 93 months.
In addition to this major contract, Welspun’s subsidiary, Welspun Michigan Engineers, has secured a separate project valued at Rs 24.60 crore for wastewater treatment in Maharashtra.
B K Goenka, Chairman of Welspun World, emphasised the company’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure development, stating, “Both these projects are aimed at improving water quality and contribute to the circular economy by reusing treated wastewater.”
