India’s upcoming highways: India is on the verge of a major transformation in road infrastructure with the construction of several high-speed expressways across the country. These upcoming expressways are designed to significantly reduce travel times, boost regional connectivity, and stimulate economic growth by linking key cities and industrial hubs.
From improving trade routes to enhancing tourism, these projects promise to reshape the way people and goods move across India, paving the way for a new era of development and integration. Here are some of the high-speed highways that will reshape the future of the country.
Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Transforming Travel and Trade
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, one of India’s most significant infrastructure ventures, stretches approximately 1,350 kilometres. Aimed at reducing travel time between the two major cities from 24 hours to just 12, this eight-lane expressway is poised to boost economic activities by connecting key industrial hubs and streamlining trade routes.
Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway
This 262-kilometre greenfield project will connect two of South India’s largest cities, reducing travel time to under three hours. The expressway is expected to enhance business ties between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Expressway
Spanning around 610 kilometres, this expressway will link three major cities in eastern India, improving regional connectivity and driving economic growth by cutting travel times significantly.
Hyderabad-Vishakhapatnam Expressway
Covering approximately 590 kilometres, this expressway will create a major freight corridor between Hyderabad and Vishakhapatnam, supporting economic development in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Delhi-Dehradun Expressway
This 210-kilometre expressway will shorten the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun to just over two hours, encouraging tourism and trade in the northern region.
Surat-Nashik Expressway
The 200-kilometre Surat-Nashik Expressway aims to reduce travel time to under two hours, bolstering connectivity between two industrial hubs in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway
Stretching 670 kilometres, this project will link key cities in northern India, cutting travel time in half and promoting tourism and economic exchanges in the region.
Indore-Hyderabad Expressway
Spanning around 530 kilometres, this expressway will connect Indore and Hyderabad, enhancing trade routes and fostering closer economic integration between Madhya Pradesh and Telangana.
Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway
Though just 65 kilometres long, this expressway will drastically reduce travel time between Kanpur and Lucknow to under an hour, improving connectivity within Uttar Pradesh.
Amritsar-Bhatinda-Jamnagar Expressway
This 1,316-kilometre expressway will link Amritsar and Jamnagar via Bhatinda, facilitating faster transport of goods across Punjab and Gujarat, promoting trade and commerce.
