India's Coal Mines To Generate Rs 35,437 Crore Annual Revenue: Govt
With a production capacity of 257.60 Million Tonnes per year, India's mines are expected to generate a revenue of Rs 35,437 crore.

The Union Government, on Wednesday, said that a total of nine coal mines have been successfully auctioned in the 10th round of the coal mine auction so far. The Ministry of Coal, in response to a question in the Parliament, said that three of these mines are fully explored, while six are partially explored. According to the ministry, the combined coal reserve of these mines stands at 3,998.73 million tonnes.
Since the inception of commercial coal mining in 2020, the government has auctioned a total of 113 coal mines. With a production capacity of 257.60 Million Tonnes per year, these mines are expected to generate a revenue of Rs 35,437 crore and a capital investment of Rs 38,641 Crore.
According to government estimates, the latest lot of coal mines are expected to generate an annual revenue of about Rs 1,446 crore (excluding partially explored mines). The mines are also likely to attract a capital investment of around Rs 2,115 crore.

"Upon operationalization, these mines will immensely contribute to enhance domestic coal production and in making the country self-reliant in the coal sector. Collectively, these mines are expected to generate annual revenue of Rs 35,437 crores, capital investment of Rs 38,641 Crores and provide employment for 3,48,268 people in coal-bearing regions," the Coal Ministry said.
