Rishad Premji, Executive chairman of Wipro , on Tuesday, said that the difference between pre-COVID-19 India and post-pandemic India is that while earlier, 'people' used to come to India because India was 'cheap', now, they look at India as a place where the 'talent is'. Speaking during a fireside chat at the Bengaluru Tech Summit, Premji said that the customers and decision makers are shifting their 'actioning to India' as power corridors of Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai have become more relevant over those of London and New York.

"… I find more and more stakeholders and customers are shifting their decision-making, actioning to India. So they want to have an impact, they say walk the corridors of Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai and don't walk the corridors of New York and London. So it has become relatively easier to be relevant on the global map for India (sic)," Premji said. He also said that besides AI, education and healthcare are some sectors where there is tremendous growth potential.

Adding that India has become the tech capital of the world, Premji, the second-generation businessman said that it has become easier to be relevant on the global map as an Indian. "India has truly, in my mind, become the tech capital of the world. I notice a very subtle but profound change that happened during COVID, which is, till COVID, people used to come to India because it was cheaper. They stayed for quality and the industry grew. I find that after COVID, what changed is that people came to India because that's where the talent is... (sic)."
