Kenyan President William Ruto, on Thursday, reportedly said that he has ordered the cancellation of the process for awarding the contract for construction of the country's main airport to Adani Group. The move came after a US court, on Thursday, indicted the Adani Group in an alleged case of 'fraud and bribery'.
"I have directed agencies within the Ministry of Transport and within the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum to immediately cancel the ongoing procurement," Ruto said, Reuters quoted.
Had the deal progressed, the Adani Group was slated to add a second runway at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Adani Group has not responded to the development yet.
In response to the allegations levelled by the US court on Thursday morning, the Adani Group said that the allegations levelled by the US court were 'baseless'.
