‘Nvidia is Vidya…’ says Mukesh Ambani while talking to Nvidia’s Jensen Huang

Mukesh Ambani with Jensen Huang: In a conversation with Nvidia’s founder and CEO Jensen Huang, Reliance Industries’ Mukesh Ambani talked about the future of artificial intelligence in India and how AI can “bring prosperity to all the people and bring equality to the world.”  

Takling about the name of the chipmaker, Mukesh Ambani also gave a new interpretation to its name saying, “My version of Nvidia is vidya, which means knowledge in India.' 

Huang reacted surprisingly to the revelation saying, "I knew I had named the company right...22 years ago I knew this!"

Bollywood Akshay Kumar also joined Jensen Huang on stage during his initial address. 

Sharing the aspirations of the country Ambani underlined that India is among the fastest-growing countries across all the sectors and the right digital connectivity is supplementing this growth. 

“As our PM has said that this is the new aspirational India. The only country in the world with an average age of 1.2 bn people is below 35. India has become home among all companies across the world-- we are fastest growing across industries,” said Ambani. "Apart from the US and China, India has the best digital connectivity infrastructure.” 

Huang also announced that the chip maker will also be partnering with Reliance to build AI infrastructure in India. "I am honoured and privileged to get to partner with you ( Mukesh Ambani ) for this," says Jensen Huang. 

While talking about the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi , Huang said, "It makes complete sense that India should manufacture its own AI. You should not export data to import intelligence. India should not export flour to import bread. "

"This is an excellent opportunity for India to have a large population and a large population of computer engineers...this is such an extraordinary time," added Huang.
