Deepinder Goyal, Co-Founder and CEO of Zomato announced on Wednesday that he is looking for a Chief of Staff to help him run the company, but the role is anything but traditional.
What has caught everyone's eyes about this Job Description is the fact that the employee would have to pay Zomato Rs 20 lakh in the first year and consequently they would be paid more than Rs 50 lakh in their second year.
Goyal is on the lookout for someone who "is hungry, has a lot of common sense, empathy, and not a lot of experience (and therefore no conditioning/baggage)".
Additionally, the CEO in his post on X said that he is looking for someone who is down to earth and has zero entitlement, wants to do the right thing even if it comes at the cost of displeasing others and has Grade A communication skills. Most importantly Goyal said that this person should have a "learning mindset."
What Is The Job Description?
The job description entails anything and everything to build the future of Zomato (including Blinkit, District, Hyperpure, and Feeding India).
What Will Zomato's Chief Of Staff Get?
Goyal further promises that this employee shall get 10 times more learnings than a 2-year degree from a top management school along with the experience of working with him and some of the top minds in consumer tech.
Not A Conventional Role
Deepinder Goyal clearly demarcated the fact that this would not be a conventional role with the usual perks that such jobs come with. In fact, he added, that Zomato is making the job unattractive for most people by saying that there is no salary for this role for the first year and that the company would in fact be charging the employee Rs 20 lakhs for the opportunity itself.
The entirety of this "fee", he says, will be paid in the form of a donation directly to Feeding India, provided one is offered the role and accepts it.
Goyal also explains that they are not trying to save money and will end up paying the employee Rs 50 lakhs to a charity of the employee's own choice. He adds that the employee would start getting his due salary from the second year of employment.
