Tata Motors investment plans: Tata Motors has revised its investment outlay for current financial year (FY25) to Rs 43,000 crore, aimed at developing new products and technologies, with a significant portion allocated to its British subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover, according to a top company official.
In the previous fiscal year, Tata Motors group had outlined an investment of 3 billion pounds for Jaguar Land Rover (approximately Rs 30,000 crore) and Rs 8,000 crore for Tata Motors, totalling about Rs 38,000 crore.
"In FY24, the investment by JLR exceeded 3.3 billion pounds (more than Rs 33,000 crore), while Tata Motors' investment surpassed Rs 8,200 crore. Consequently, our total investment for FY24 amounted to about Rs 41,200 crore," Tata Motors Group CFO PB Balaji stated during an earnings conference.
Balaji stressed on the importance of adhering to timelines for launching new products, acknowledging certain phasing challenges.
For FY25, Balaji noted, "We anticipate a similar investment range of around Rs 8,000 crore for Tata Motors, while JLR will witness a modest increase of about 6 percent." He emphasized that the focus of these investments remains on product innovation and technological advancements for both JLR and Tata Motors.
Providing insights into Jaguar Land Rover's product roadmap, CFO Richard Molyneux highlighted plans to introduce new offerings by FY2026, including the Range Rover BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle). Molyneux clarified that the Range Rover BEV represents a new approach, combining the luxury of the Range Rover brand with an electric powertrain.
He elaborated, "The BEV technology perfectly complements the Range Rover brand, offering a blend of power, quietness, and serenity, making it an ideal fit for our top-end Range Rover models."
In addition to the Range Rover BEV, JLR will continue to enhance its lineup with updates to Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models, with the Defender OCTA slated for launch later this year.
