Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), a leading City Gas Distribution (CGD) company in India, has issued a work order to Nawgati, a homegrown fuel aggregator startup, to implement a fleet program for enhancing CNG adoption during the MGL CNG Mahotsav 2.0. This partnership aims to ensure the long-term growth and sustainability of the CNG ecosystem across Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad districts.
As part of the MGL CNG Mahotsav, fleet operators purchasing new commercial CNG vehicles or retrofitting their existing ones will receive substantial incentives. The scheme encourages fleet owners to switch from petrol and diesel to CNG, a cleaner and more environmentally friendly fuel. Rewards will vary based on the type and tonnage of vehicles.
Nawgati’s Digital Platform to Streamline Refueling Operations
Nawgati has introduced an advanced digital platform that allows fleet operators to manage their refueling operations with ease. Operators can register on the MGL Fleet official platform to set up accounts, add vehicles and drivers, and manage refueling at participating MGL stations.
MGL and Nawgati have developed a dual payment solution accessible through the MGL Fuel Card. Fleet operators can make payments either physically at POS machines by tapping the card or digitally via the MGL Connect app or Nawgati Fuelling app. These solutions ensure seamless transactions at participating MGL CNG stations, including select BEST bus depots in Ghatkopar and Goregaon.
Innovative Collaboration for a Greener Future
Vaibhav Kaushik, Co-founder and CEO of Nawgati, emphasized the shared commitment to sustainability: “We are deeply invested in helping MGL make transitioning to CNG a seamless experience for fleet operators through innovative payment solutions. This collaboration will pave the way for a greener future in Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad, and eventually across the country.”
Nawgati as Technical Partner for MGL’s Closed-Loop Payment System
As a technical partner, Nawgati will support MGL’s closed-loop payment system for fleet owners benefiting from the promotional scheme. This ensures smooth and efficient transactions at MGL stations, encouraging CNG sales and supporting environmental goals.
Driving Urban Air Quality Improvements Through CNG Adoption
This initiative reflects the shared vision of both companies to positively impact urban air quality and set a standard for eco-friendly fleet management in the region.
Earlier this year, Nawgati signed an MoU with MGL to integrate the MGL Tez app with the Nawgati Fuelling app. This integration allows commercial vehicle owners to pre-schedule refueling slots at participating BEST bus depots, ensuring zero wait times and greater convenience.
By combining their expertise, MGL and Nawgati are making significant strides toward promoting sustainable mobility and addressing environmental challenges in the urban landscape.
