YouTube AI radio: YouTube Music announced on Monday its latest advancements aimed at enhancing user song discovery, introducing an AI-generated conversational radio feature, and expanding its song recognition capabilities.
The new AI-generated conversational radio feature is currently in testing for select Premium users in the United States. This feature allows users to create personalised radio stations based on descriptive prompts such as "catchy pop choruses" or "upbeat pop anthems." It marks a move similar to AI playlist tools being explored by other major music streaming platforms like Spotify, Amazon Music, and Deezer.
Users will discover the new feature through an "Ask for music any way you like" card on the app's home feed, enabling them to enter custom prompts or select from suggested options within a conversational interface. While currently limited in availability, YouTube Music plans to expand access to more users in the future.
Additionally, YouTube Music has officially rolled out a new song recognition tool across iOS and Android platforms. Users can now identify songs by singing, humming, or playing parts of them, enhancing the app's functionality beyond traditional song recognition tools like Shazam, which require playing the actual song.
This feature builds upon earlier testing among select Android users and represents YouTube Music's broader strategy to integrate innovative technologies into its platform for enhanced user experience and engagement.
