WhatsApp, Facebook, Insta Down Across Globe? Details

On Wednesday Night, Meta's popular platforms— WhatsApp , Facebook, and Instagram—suffered a significant global outage, leaving thousands of users unable to access these essential services. 

Reports flooded in from users across the globe, particularly in the United States and India, detailing issues ranging from slow loading times to complete inaccessibility.

User Frustration and Error Messages
Over 105,000 complaints were logged for Facebook and more than 70,000 for Instagram. WhatsApp also faced disruptions with over 12,000 reported issues. Many users encountered error messages stating "something went wrong" when trying to access their accounts. This frustration was echoed on X (formerly Twitter), where users vented their concerns about the widespread disruption.
 

Meta acknowledged the situation on social media shortly after the outage began. In a post around 12:30 AM IST on December 12, the company stated, "We're aware that a technical issue is impacting some users' ability to access our apps. We're working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience."

 

The outage reportedly began around 11 PM IST and lasted for over two hours. During this time, users from various regions.

After midnight, WhatsApp updated users via X, stating, "We're aware of some issues accessing WhatsApp. We're actively working on a solution and starting to see a return to normal for most people." By around 4 AM IST, the service announced that it was back online: "We're back, happy chatting!"

 

Second Time in 2024 
This incident marks the second major outage for Meta in 2024. Earlier in March, both Facebook and Instagram experienced significant disruptions that left users unable to access their accounts for several hours. These repeated outages raise concerns about the reliability of Meta's services and their ability to handle massive user traffic.
