OnePlus 13 launch likely after iPhone 16 debut

OnePlus 13, the company’s next flagship smartphone, is likely making an early entry. According to a new report, the OnePlus 12 successor may arrive as early as October – a few weeks after Apple launches the next-generation iPhone models. The OnePlus 13 is expected to bring a faster processor and pack enhanced generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) features to stay ahead in the race for next year’s flagship phones.

Early launch for OnePlus 13

Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station posted the launch timeline for the OnePlus 13 on Weibo – one of China’s leading social media platforms. According to the post, the OnePlus 13 will arrive towards the end of October, but the company may push back the launch to as late as the beginning of November. The purported timeline is months ahead of the usual launch schedule of OnePlus’ previous flagship phones.

The tipster also said that the OnePlus is planning a specific launch timeframe for the next flagship to align its availability with the “Double 11” festival, popularly known as Single’s Day – one of the biggest events for electronics sales. The Single’s Day will take place on November 11.

OnePlus 13 leaked specifications

Rumours are rife that the next OnePlus phone will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, making it compete against the likes of upcoming phones such as Samsung Galaxy S24 and Xiaomi 15. Qualcomm’s next flagship chipset is expected to come out during the Snapdragon Summit in October. The leak also suggested that the OnePlus 13 will boast a 2K LTPO OLED display with an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner – a more advanced version of in-display fingerprint sensor previously seen on Samsung’s flagship smartphones. The OnePlus 13 may also feature camera upgrades, but its main camera may use a 50MP Sony LYT-808 sensor – the same as the OnePlus 12’s main camera. It could have an ultrawide and a telephoto camera, both using 50MP sensors. The latter may offer 3x optical zoom. The OnePlus 13 may pack a 6000mAh battery using “super silicon” material along with 100W fast charging. OnePlus may also offer an IP69 rating for dust and water resistance on the OnePlus 13.
