Indian visitors to France can now book Eiffel Tower tickets using UPI

UPI at Eiffel Tower: Now Indian visitors to Paris, France, can book their Eiffel Tower tickets easily using UPI payments, Patrick Branco Ruivo, CEO of Eiffel Tower announced on Wednesday, August 28. Indian tourists can book tickets for the Eiffel Tower using UPI directly when they are applying for a French Visa.

“Your favourite payment method, UPI, has made it to France! Patrick Branco Ruivo, CEO of Eiffel Tower reveals you can now book Eiffel Tower tours using UPI. Experience the City of Light with the ease of seamless digital payments!”  National Payments Corporation of India wrote in a tweet.  The announcement was made on the sidelines of the Global Fintech Fest 2024 that is being organised by NPCI from August 28 to August 30 in Mumbai.

Previously, Ruivo has announced that he aims to increase the number of Indian visitors to the Eiffel Tower from 4 per cent to 8 per cent by 2026. 

Earlier in 2024, the Eiffel Tower became the first European merchant to accept payments through UPI, allowing Indian tourists to pay for their tickets, merchandise, and food using the UPI. 

The authorities have also introduced vegetarian meals at two restaurants at the Tower that caters specifically to Indian food habits. 

Under the leadership of Patrick Branco Ruivo, the Eiffel Tower authorities have taken steps to make the world's popular destination a more appealing place for Indian tourists.

How to book Eiffel Tower tour ticket using UPI

So, if you are travelling to the Paris, here is a step-by-step guide of how you can book your Eiffel Tower tour using UPI:

Step 1: First you need to enable international payments in your UPI app.

For BHIM: Open the app > go to Profile > Tap on 'UPI Global' option.

For Google Pay: Open the app > go to your Profile > go to Set Up Payment Methods option > go to Registered Payment Method option > tap the Manage International Payments option > now turn on 'Pay with UPI International' option > Enter your UPI pin.

For PhonePe: Open the app > go to Profile > go to Set Up Payment Methods option > go to Registered payment method > go to Manage international payments > Turn on 'Pay with UPI International' > Enter your UPI pin.

Step 2: Choose your Eiffel Tower tour package. You can choose from Eiffel Tower Guided Tour by Elevator, Eiffel Tower Guided Tour by Elevator + Summit and Eiffel Tower Guided Tour by Elevator + Summit + Cruise options.

Step 3: Select 'Online Payment' as your preferred mode of payment.

Step 4: Select your preffered UPI app.

Step 5: Scan the QR code to complete the payment.
