Google CEO Sundar Pichai has announced major changes to the company's leadership. These changes will primarily affect the company's DeepMind and Gemini teams.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has announced major changes to the company's leadership. In a detailed post to the company's employees, Pichai wrote that Google 's Senior Vice President for Google Search, Assistant, Geo, Ads, Commerce and Payments products, Prabhakar Raghavan, will take the role of the Chief Technologist at the company.
"After 12 years leading teams across Google , he’ll return to his computer science roots and take on the role of Chief Technologist, Google . In this role, he’ll partner closely with me and Google leads to provide technical direction and leadership and grow our culture of tech excellence.," the Google CEO wrote in his memo to Googlers.
Pichai also announced that Prabhakar Raghavan's former position will be filled by Nick Fox, who has been a part of Prabhakar’s leadership team for a long time. Fox will lead the company's K&I team, which includes Search, Ads, Geo, and Commerce products.
"I’m so grateful to Prabhakar for the strong foundation and leadership bench he’s built across K&I. That includes his incredible senior leaders and Nick who is ready to hit the ground running in his new role as SVP of K&I," Pichai added.
In addition to this, the Google CEO also announced leadership changes that will make the company's team responsible for developing its large language model and Gemini and work more closely. Pichai said that Sissie Hsiao, Vice President and General Manager, Gemini experiences and Google Assistant, will now join Google DeepMind under Demis Hassabis, whos is the CEO and Co-Founder of Google DeepMind. Pichai said that bringing these teams closer will enable faster deployment of the company's new models in the Gemini app, and 'make the post-training work proceed more efficiently among other things.
"The Assistant teams focused on devices and home experiences will move to Platforms & Devices so they can sit closer to the product surfaces they’re building for and bring our AI-powered home initiatives into one team and focus on improving user experience," Pichai added.
