Apple's 'Glow Time' event: Apple's much-awaited “Glow Time” event is set for September 9, 2024, at 10:30 PM IST. The tech giant is expected to launch the new iPhone 16 Series and introduce other gadgets. However, with these new releases, several current Apple devices might be phased out.
According to a report from 9To5Mac, here’s a list of Apple products likely to be discontinued post-event:
iPhone 15 Pro & iPhone 15 Pro Max
Apple typically retires flagship iPhones a year after their release, as seen with past models. Thus, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max might be discontinued. The iPhone 15 Pro, featuring a titanium frame, may be the last in its current size before the iPhone 16 Pro models come with larger displays. The unique Blue Titanium color may not return in the new series.
iPhone 14 Plus
The iPhone 14 Plus, which marked Apple’s return to larger, entry-level iPhones, may be phased out. With its 6.7-inch display and strong battery life, it was a more affordable alternative to the Pro Max models. The iPhone 14 Plus could be discontinued, with the iPhone 14 potentially remaining available for a while longer.
iPhone 13
The iPhone 13, introduced in 2021, might be retired as it is one of the oldest models still on sale. If Apple follows past patterns, the iPhone 13 could be replaced, with the iPhone 14 taking over its $599 price point, at least until the iPhone SE 4 is released.
Apple Watch Series 9, Ultra 2, and SE 2
With anticipated updates to the Apple Watch Series 10, Ultra 3, and SE 3, the current Series 9, Ultra 2, and SE 2 models may be discontinued. The new Series 10 is expected to have larger displays and a slimmer profile, while the SE 3 might be a more budget-friendly option with a plastic casing.
AirPods 2 and AirPods 3
The AirPods 2, introduced in 2019, and AirPods 3, launched in 2021, might be discontinued with the expected launch of AirPods 4 models. The new models are anticipated to offer noise cancellation, a feature not available in the AirPods 2.
iPad mini 6 and iPad 10
Apple may also refresh its budget-friendly iPads. The iPad mini 6 and iPad 10 could be replaced by new versions featuring support for Apple Intelligence, increased storage, and Apple Pencil Pro compatibility.
