Reliance AGM 2024: Akash Ambani introduces Jio TvOS and AI-Driven Home Solutions

Reliance AGM 2024: Akash Ambani, Chairman of Jio India, took to the stage at the 47th Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries Limited to reveal details of Jio's latest advancements in the space of digital and home entertainment. His speech brought out the next evolution in Jio Home offerings, powered by the commitment of Reliance to innovation with the transformative potential of AI and connected technologies.

He began by introducing the indigenously created operating system, Jio TvOS, for the Jio Set-Top Box, which is targeted at making the experience faster, smoother, and personalised. "Jio TvOS is made for your big TV screen, giving you a faster, smoother, and more personalised experience," he said, adding its support for Ultra HD 4K video, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. This new system integrating all in one place, from live TV and OTT apps to on-demand content, made entertainment so much easier for millions of subscribers.

The voice assistant "Hello Jio," now powered with Generative AI, lies at the core of Jio's home innovation. Akash explained how the assistant is able to find content across many platforms, control the Jio STB, and even interact with IoT devices to make homes smarter and further connected. Another important introduction was the JioHome app, acting like a control center for all Jio smart devices and giving users one single platform to manage their environment.

In a major extension, Akash unveiled JioPhonecall AI-a service that stores phone calls in Jio Cloud and transcribes them, thus making AI as reachable as a phone call. "JioPhonecall AI can store any call in Jio Cloud and automatically transcribe it, which means automatically converting from voice to text," he explained. In fact, this will be the innovation that would make communication more inclusive-especially for those with hearing impairments.

Mukesh Ambani is the chairman of RIL. The former spoke on the bigger vision about Reliance. He outlined the strategic transformation of the corporation into a deep-tech innovator with AI at the forefront. "Jio today stands as a true deep tech innovator," he outlined while speaking on the company's investments in AI, 5G, and digital infrastructure. This technology-led transformation would catapult Reliance into the global top-30 league and create tremendous value for its shareholders, the billionaire underlined.
