Ghazal Alagh, 36, co-founder of Mamaearth, is the youngest woman featured in the IDFC FIRST Private & Hurun India’s Top 200 Self-Made Entrepreneurs of the Millennia 2024. Mamaearth’s valuation stands at ₹15,500 crores, reflecting a remarkable 55% increase.
Education and Early Life
Born and raised in a middle-class family in Gurugram, Haryana, Ghazal earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Applications from Punjab University. She later pursued advanced courses in design and modern art at the New York Academy of Art in 2013, showcasing her passion for creativity.
The Journey of Mamaearth
Ghazal, originally from Chandigarh, co-founded Mamaearth in New Delhi in 2016 with her husband, Varun Alagh. What began as a baby care brand expanded into a beauty and personal care giant. In November 2023, Mamaearth’s parent company, Honasa Consumer Ltd, went public with a market capitalization of over ₹12,500 crores.

Nineteen women are featured in the prestigious list, highlighting their impact on modern business. While Falguni Nayar, 61, founder of Nykaa, is the eldest on the list, Ghazal represents the younger generation of innovative entrepreneurs. The list also includes 10 women serial entrepreneurs, with 40% of the featured individuals founding multiple companies.
