The Lok Sabha, on Tuesday, passed the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024. The bill allows bank account holders to have up to four nominees in their accounts. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the bill in the Lok Sabha earlier today. The bill was passed in the Lower House of the Parliament with a voice vote.

Domestic Air Traffic To Rise To 164-170 Million In FY25: ICRA
Domestic air traffic is projected to rise 7-10 per cent to 164-170 million in the current fiscal year, while the aviation industry's loss is pegged at Rs 2,000-3,000 crore during the same period, according to rating agency Icra.
In the first half of 2024-25, Icra said domestic air passenger traffic stood at 79.3 million, marking a 5.3 per cent annual growth that was partly impacted by the severe heat wave and other weather-related disruptions.

Gold Futures Rise On Spot Demand
Gold prices on Tuesday increased Rs 73 to Rs 76,760 per 10 grams in futures trade as speculators created positions on a firm spot demand.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for February delivery traded higher by Rs 73 or 0.1 per cent at Rs 76,760 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 12,400 lots.

Crude Oil Futures Gain On Spot Demand
Crude oil prices on Tuesday climbed Rs 17 to Rs 5,796 per barrel in futures trade as participants increased their positions following a firm spot demand.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for December delivery traded higher Rs 17 or 0.29 per cent at Rs 5,796 per barrel in 11,169 lots.

Apple Accused Of Silencing Workers
Apple has been accused in a new lawsuit of illegally monitoring its workers' personal devices and iCloud accounts while also barring them from discussing their pay and working conditions.
The complaint filed in California state court on Sunday by Amar Bhakta, who works in digital advertising for Apple, claims the company requires employees to install software on personal devices that they use for work allowing Apple to access their email, photo libraries, health and "smart home" data and other personal information.

US Clampdown On China's Chips Hits Semiconductor Toolmakers
The United States on Monday launched its third crackdown in three years on China's semiconductor industry, curbing exports to 140 companies, including chip equipment maker Naura Technology Group 002371.SZ, among other moves.
The effort to hobble Beijing's chipmaking ambitions also hits Chinese chip toolmakers Piotech 688072.SS, ACM Research 688082.SS and SiCarrier Technology with new export restrictions as part of the package, which also takes aim at shipments of advanced memory chips and more chipmaking tools to China.

Bangladesh Halves Power Purchase From Adani Power
Bangladesh has halved the power it buys from neighbouring Adani Power, citing lower winter demand, government officials told Reuters on Monday, amid disagreements over dues running into hundreds of millions of dollars.
Adani, whose founder has been accused by US authorities of being involved in an alleged bribery scheme in India, charges which he has denied, halved supply to Bangladesh on Oct. 31 over payment delays as the country battles a foreign exchange shortage.
